I will not be judged as a letter.

So far, you've completed one round of validations. The activity of task analysis hopefully revealed some areas for refinement/improvement, and during our last class critique, I could see you have addressed some issues that was problematic during our very first review.

The idea is you do this continually, as you refine the product, you want to do another round of validations. But for class today, you are expected to start your visual design of the iPhone application. This deals with color, typography, and all the affordances visual design addresses. This is a significant stage, as the experience gets it's clothes. If wireframes are the structure, the different states are the motion, then the visual design is all about the engagement.

If you haven't realized this by now, form and function needs to be at a balance.

Quick calendar of events for Project 2:

  • Nov. 1: In-class work session. Please use this to tighten/refine your widget. If you want feedback, please send PDF files of work -in-progress PDF/low-res to me by Nov. 1, Tuesday 2PM. I arrive in India that day so I will get it, review and reply with some short feedback.
  • Nov. 3: Project 2 is due. Send in High-res PDF file by 2 PM. I will download and attempt to connect via FaceTime. I did a short test with Long and we chatted shortly. Now how this will work half way across the world, we'll have to see.

Thanks for bearing with me on this particular project.

Since you have less time these days, I thought I'd share 2 articles of particular interest.
