Fascinating what MSFT does to improving a product

I think this is an interesting take on how usability and user analysis contributes to making improvements on existing products. And the strong emphasis is on "existing products."

If you have the time, this is a nice foray into the world of application design and one of its well known practitioners.

  1. Pretty interesting to see how the Windows Explorer has changed and evolved. I don't think I was even around when "MS DOS Executive" was active, haha.
And the new Windows 8 Explorer looks A LOT like Microsoft Word 2007's interface.

  2. I am just floored and amazed by the among of research and analysis that went behind all the improvements for the Explorer of Windows 8. This is certainly a field that cannot be taken lightly.

One thing that I missed the most after switching from Windows to a Mac, is the luxury of using the command: "Cut". There's no "Cut" or "Move to" in the Finder. I always have to have to manually drag files between two opened folder.
